How often do stocks update?

Prices changes every second while market is open 9:30 am to 4:00 pm EST, also changes in Pre Market from 4:00 to 9:28 am and after market from 4:02pm to 8:00 pm EST, you might be using free websites that are to 15 to 20 mins behind on regulars markets like AMEX, NYSE & NASDAQ and perhaps ever later on penny stocks like OTC & OTCBB, if you want real time you need to open and account with your broker, I use Scottrade and Scottrade Streaming Quotes provides real time, if you want to open an account there I can send you and invitation and you can get 3 free trades, but more important than that is your education about the stocks, if you know nothing about the stock market, stay away.

What really makes money is the candle stick chart and the pattern that forms, for instance look ticker symbol "CUR" today Monday 17th is up 15% so far, and market hasn't closed yet, why? Well, it broke 52 weeks highs last Friday, nice breakout ascending triangle pattern, massive volume, price above 8EMA, all the indicators are there to banking baby....

I bought them last Friday almost at the closing and care less about limit orders, because my education tells me it will go higher Monday, and it did, and still rising 16% now. :)

Money doesn't make you rich, is the knowledge about money that makes you rich!

Hi,

You should try with Penny Stocks Trading (you can find more info here: http://pennystocks.toptips.org)

Penny stocks, also known as cent stocks in some countries, are common shares of small public companies that trade at low prices per share.

I've been subscribing to this PennyStock web site for about a year now and have loved the objective advice they give. He really does look for quality stocks and I've made some pretty nice profits on a lot of his suggestions. Being still fairly new to investing I have been dabbling a lot in penny stocks to try and grow my account. I may not have a big account, but it's a lot bigger than it was a year ago. On just one of Nathan's picks this year I managed to make my investment back ten-fold! Be careful! Penny stocks are notoriously risky but if you follow the right method the risk is almost 0. I suggest to invest only little money first and then reinvest the profits. This is the site I'm using: http://pennystocks.toptips.org

I hope it helps

This is why smart investors use limit orders and not market orders!!

Hi,

I am very confused on how often stocks update. Charles Schwab's website is an hour behind on updating this certain stock, while Yahoo Finance and Bloomberg websites both gave me more updated prices. I lost money following Schwab's updates and bought and sold a stock at complete wrong times. I am very frustrated. If I buy a stock at the price Schwab claims it's at, will it buy at that price or the actual real-time price of the stock. Thanks!
