I dont feel comfortable talking about business with this guy?

At 18, investing should be the last thing on your plate. You should be focused on college, establishing a career, and finding a home or apartment to live on your own.

However, do your mom a favor and meet with him! Be sure that you DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING, no matter how hard he pushes you to sign. Stand firm J'adore la musi!

You should not give out your personal financial information to a friend of a friend. By all means get free advice where it's offered, but do not start a business relationship based on a personal connection. Choose a financial advisor based on his/her qualifications.

That said, I don't see what you think will be awkward about a classmate knowing you are starting to invest.

It never hurts to listen. But first ask this chap for his credentials. Then listen and ask questions and at the end say "thank you very much for your advice, I will consider it carefully and if I wish to go further I will let you know"

An investment adviser should first get all the relevant information form you: timescales, risk attitude, current financial situation, whether you have pension etc. etc.

It is also his job to make sure you understand what he says to you. If you don't understand say so and he should be sure that you do understand (the test is if you can explain to him what you have understood)

If he is a Professional Investor, he is governed by the rules of Confidentiality. If he discusses your investments with his daughter, he can lose his license. I would not be concerned and if you are happy with him, stick with him.

just tell him/her you have nothing to invest and that'll be the end of it.

Today my mom wants me to talk to this one friend of hers

About investing

I am an 18 year old guy and I have ZERO experience with any of this

Thing is, this guy is the father of this one girl from my school

A sophmore, and Im a senior, and I have her in obe if my classes (its an elective class for all grades)

And i just feel it would be all awkward and what not

Seeing her and having us both know whats going on

Ugh, it would be weird

But i'd like to make some investments, and perhaps this guy could help me with that

What should I do?

Should i stick with this guy

Or move on and find
