It looks like iForex offers the ability to trade currencies, commodities, and indicies. Unfortunately, iForex does not offer the ability to trade stocks. For this, look into an online brokerage firm such as Tradeking, eTrade, Scottrade, etc.
iForex will allow you to open an account with a minimum of $100 according to their website.
If you have no experience trading currencies or stocks, start small. You may lose some or most of the money at first, but it can be a great learning experience that can be very rewarding over the long run. Once you get the hang of it and feel like you know what you are doing, then you can always add more money to your account. It's always a good idea to do some reading as well. Ben Graham's "The Intelligent Investor" is a very good starting point, however I think it's a great idea to gain some real experience as it will help you learn much faster. Good luck!
Forex is full of fraud and ripoffs. Google forex fraud for information, or see my source.
In simple words: Don't do it. The people who make money selling you stuff will make it seem like a quick way to riches, but it isn't.
you need to understand some basics, try reading up on finance topics (like The Intelligent Investor) and Jim Cramer's books first.
FWIW,
Q: How do you make a small fortune by investing?
A: Start with a big one.
A minimum of $100 is required for the first deposit.
This can be done easily by submitting credit card details or in a more complicated procedure by wiring funds from a bank account.
The latter requires going offline to deal with the bank and then faxing confirmation to iForex. Withdrawal of funds back to same credit card is as easy as the deposit, while any excess funds must be deposited back into a bank account to prevent money laundering risks.
If you come to a poker table and say you have no experience playing poker, you'll be made very welcome. Poker players will be happy to teach you - and take your money in the process. You can play poker and trade foreign exchange for free - there are numerous sites that will let a beginning trader trade with play money.
I'm guessing you want to skip that step and proceed to that place where you can make an income trading foreign currencies and make fistfuls of money. Since I believe that you are likely to be out-traded by proffesionals and large, large institutions amed with high speed computer programs that will trade a million times faster - I'd suggest you start with the absolute minimum that the site allows.
Why pay a premium to get an education?
