You think that a simple little indicator like this is supposed to pick tops and bottoms for you? lol...What would happen if your first investment was a book on technical analysis?

I have been using a practise account on an online trading platform and I did some research on indicators and how to use them, however when I started using MACD I could identify good entry points, for example where the MACD line crosses over the MA line, however when compared to the live share price like graph it didn't match up, as for example the MACD indication would be suggesting buying when the price is actually high, therefore I was wondering if I was using it correctly or have I missed something, or is it a matter of the settings on the platform I use, as the MACD doesn't seem to match the live prices charts
