Nike has been holding out on me.?

Restless neglects stock splits. If you bought Nike at the IPO, your basis in each $75 share you own now is $0.30. Forgetting about dividends (which haven't been especially much) you have gained like 25000%. Your $5000 is worth about $1.25M.

How is a shoebox getting a dollar or two in it... is the shoebox holding stock certificates? If you hold actual certificates go to Nike investor relations site and contact someone there, they can probably help you get in touch with their transfer agent who tracks ownership and tell you what you might own. If it is held at a broker, the broker will help you track that. But shoebox and having a dollar in it makes no sense..

If you never sold any of that stock until now, it would be worth around 9x's your initial investment of $5000, back in the 80's Nike stock was just over $8/share and now it is over $70/share so realistically you had the potential of making around $41,000.

I first bought stock in Nike in 1980 when it went public. I put about $5,000 in it. Now, of course, it has become this filthy rich mega-brand that makes billions, partly because it outsources it's production to sweatshops in the East. But I digest. 34 years later, I have only made about $300. Every single time under my bed in the Nike shoe box in which I deposited my initial $5,000, there is usually only a dollar or two more. I know I should have way more than $5,300 in that box, considering the wealth that Nike itself has made. Should I contact a lawyer to help me me settle this? Hell, if anyone has a good suggestion for a lawyer and I come out on the winning side, I'll gladly pay whoever gives me the information. I should make a load in this case.
