Say a share is 100p and the dividend is 10p. The dividend yield would be 100/10 x100%=10%
Profit =Earnings. The part of the Earnings that is distributed to shareholders is called a Dividend.
For example, I'm looking at New Germany Fund Inc. (GF) and the "Div/yield" is 0.33/1.65.
This is one of the highest dividend yield stocks, but in another example Reynolds American, Inc. (RAI) the Div/yield is 0.67/5.00.
Why is GF's dividend greater than RAI's?
