How many stock market shares can someone buy?

The limit is the number of shares that are for sale.

Anyone with shares of stock may place them for sale at their desired price. If someone is willing to pay that price, the trade is made.

If your "rich person" starts buying, then the supply dwindles and those people willing to sell their shares will raise their price. The price will continue to rise until your buyer stops or runs out of money.

. .

The only limit is how many shares are available for sale - which is a function of what people are willing to pay for them. Supply and demand, as always.

you can buy as much as you can afford. If it winds you are reaching 5% of the outstanding stock of a company some SEC paperwork must be filed

there are only a limited number of shares outstanding. but in apple's case, its in the millions

For example. One day no one was purchasing apple inc shares. which wont never happen oviously. but its only an example. Then some rich person comes and buys some shares. would there be a limit to how many shares that person can buy. Like when the limit is reached no one else can buy shares in that stock. is there a limit?
