How to confront my dad about his investments?

If all your dad has is 62K he is POOR.

You have no idea if that was a retirement account or not. If it was, he can't touch that money - and he shouldn't even if he could.

It will take about 3-5 million in assets for someone my age (43) to retire comfortably 25 years from now. If all your dad has is 62k he is in a world of hurt.

Not to mention that his investments are none of your business. You accidentally saw something you shouldn't have. The appropriate thing to do is pretend as if you never saw it.

If you want a vacation then go get a job. If you aren't old enough for a regular job you can mow lawns, walk dogs, babysit, etc.

Dont start acting like you have some clue about what they have money for and what they dont. Unless you are paying your own rent, your own water, your own electric, and your own food, then dont even start making comments about money others have.

It's HIS f*cking money, NOT yours.

You have NO right to demand anything from him. I would throw your *** out for spying.

" it will have been half a year since I had seen her."

BOO HOO, Six Frikkin Months!!! Soooo looonngg. How will you LIVE!?!?!?!

Time to grow the h3ll up, child.

Seem like that your father already done and is doing a good job providing for you because you are a spoil brat crying over not getting your way

Money that is invested is not readily available to spend. I assume you live at home and your parents are supporting you. How they spend or invest their money is none of your business. You are not entitled to a vacation. If you want to take one and your parents can't or won't pay for it, you will have to do it yourself.

get your own money, and after you pay all of your own bills, you can spend it any way you like. trips, champagne, sensitivity training, brain transplant or donate to charity.

good luck with that.

hard problem browse from search engines like google that may help

Grow up, it's not your dads job to take you on holiday.

What is the $62,000 for? If that is one of MANY accounts, then yes you might have something to complain about.

If it's your only account, "yes" your dad has no money. How long will $62000 last in retirement, probably 2 years or less.

if the 62 thousand is the only account your dad has, he is relatively poor.

My family had not gone on a vacation in 6 years because my dad claims we have no money. I really want to fly to Alabama this year to visit my sister because by the time she comes back it will have been half a year since I had seen her. My dad claims we are out of money and won't pay for it however he left a screen open on his computer for td ameritrade and he has 62k invested on there. I am furious and can barely look him in the eye. How do I basically call him on his crap?
