Try watching Jim Cramer's show "Mad Money" weekdays on CNBC. You can also try watching Nightly Business Report on PBS.
Go learn about Mutual Funds and Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs). They are both a good way to get started while you are building your investment funds before you start with individual stocks.
Investopedia.com is probably the best one. Brokerage sites usually have free video as well, but investopedia covers quite a bit and keeps adding more. I recommend you get the level 1 CFA books, you can buy them separately if you're not ready for the test. But they are extremely thorough and cover the basics of several different investment vehicles, as well as economics, and the time value of money.
Last time I suggested a website it got deleted, even though it was perfectly legitimate in my opinion. I guess I'll let you google bogleheads and index funds. Hopefully the answers yahoo regime won't delete this.
