My mom has always told me to keep them but now I really want some money for a bike l:-I
Should I go ahead and use them or will they increase in value?
Are these the gold colored $1 coins that the US mint has issued over the past few years? If so, they do not contain any real gold and they are very common.
A quick online search shows that these coins sell for about $6 IF they are in 100% perfect condition - usually that means they were sealed in a plastic case at the mint before being released and they have never even been touched by human hands. If the coins have been circulated they will have dirty spots, minor scratches etc and therefore they're worthless to a collector and they're simply worth their $1 face value.
I highly doubt these coins will become more valuable anytime in the next 10-20 years. Sure, its possible to save those coins, and maybe one day your grand-kids will sell the collect for $500, but there are better ways to invest $30 if you want.
Sure, the coins or cool, I have a few that I set aside just because they're cool, but I wouldn't tie up $30 based on the long-shot hope that you'll get rich from it.
They will grow.
The mint coined so many they have a hard time getting rid of them buy some stock not a bike.
no, the coins have greater value than what you got them for; if you got them out of circulation then they are worth less
They aren't really gold, right? I would check and see if they are worth anything over face value. I doubt it. And they will still be worth only face value in 20 years.
increase in value? maybe not in your lifetime
I bought silver dollars thinking they were a good investment but I couldn't sell them for anything more than I paid for them
anything like this will depend on the willingness of the buyer to pay what you want for them or think they are worth
however, the gold dollars will definitely outlast the bike
I have 30 of them.
