Significance of owner selling its own company's preference shares.?

Perhaps others are happy he has shed some of the company, less influence. They might be ploting to get him off the board. Maybe he needs the money for another purpose, too. If he sold because he know the company will be failing, that is criminal.

I came across a situation where one of my stock holding has its owner selling his own preference shares of the company.

I would like to know what is the usual outlook towards future of the company when someone as high profile as the chairman sold off some of it.

Initial reaction was the stock moved up around 3%
