Basically it is a way of giving money to someone (say a minor ) without them being able to spend the money themselves. The money is given to the minor but held by someone in trust (it is held by someone whom the donor trusts. So you have the donor (the giver) the beneficiary (the receiver) and the trustee (the holder).

The trustee can give the beneficiary some money, say for education.

Of course there rae different types of trust but that's the basics.

Your parents or your grandparents or Magwitch sets you up with one. It would surely be nice to have a trust fund so you could leave your parents who insist you do stupid **** like clean up your room and finish your homework.

I am residing in California, however, the day I turn 18, I will be leaving, for reasons that will not be stated. Please do not go into a lecture on how un-grateful or stupid I am acting for not staying with my parent. I assure you, I would sooner be homeless then under my current roof.
