Should I buy apple stock?

I know the stocks split today and are $94/ share. I have about 2k I could put down. Should I buy?

if you can afford to lose the $2000 or have it decrease, keep that in mind. Apple is an excellent growth stock, and you would need to establish an account with a broker (like schwab or fidelity) and then pay like $7.95 commission on line to buy stock.

Don't ask strangers on Yahoo. They may know less than you.

You should never invest in just 1 stock because its not diversified, if you want to buy one then you should be diversified in 3 or 4 different stocks in different types of businesses. Jmo

If apple does not start paying dividends soon, people are going to stop paying more and more in hopes that the their neighbor will pay even more. Microsoft got up to $100 a share before people woke up and the stock dropped to $25 - and started paying (say) $1 a share, so at $25 per share people where making 4% - which barely beat money in the bank. Now MS is near $33, and $1 = 3% return, not counting the cost of buying the stock.

I think the stock market is a fraud, but there are many gamblers out there, AND it is an easy place for everybody to put IRA money, so flip a coin. It is up to you.

the split itself has no impact on the company/stock, all it means is that they introduced new shares and because of that, the price decreases.

think of it as a pizza worth $20, you cut into 2 pieces both worth $10, then later you take the same pizza and cut it into 4 pieces, worth $5 each... you still have 1 whole pizza worth $20, there are just more pieces.

its sort of a psychological motivator to get people to buy shares because it allows people to buy the stock at a cheaper price who would normally not be able to afford the stock.

so should you buy it? its up to you, if you think apple is going to continue to do well, making their stock price increase, then yes.. but dont go and buy it just because it's cheap..

Personally I think apple as a business have hit that stage of maturity and will not surpass that as they've had their time and competitors are slowly, but surely, figuring out how to stop them saying that their share price is quite reasonable
