Vanguards Wellington Fund (VWELX)

is one of the best.

At your age I recommend Vanguard Target 2020 Fund. It's convenient because they manage the balancing between income and equity investments for you, and Vanguard is a solid company. The 2020 fund is for people in their early 60s.

What is your goal? Wellesley Income Fund's goal is income with capital preservation as secondary. Wellington Fund's goal is capital preservation. Also if income is your goal, you may want to also consider their GNMA fund.

You may want to investigate Vanguard's annuity with a guarnateed lifetime withdrawal benefit. The benefit can increase with the performance of the market, but the benefit level stays the same if the market declines. The underlying mutual funds are a stock and bond fund(s)

Your question doesn't make sense.....

Why are you asking about a taxable account? Do you have a sudden windfall to invest?
