How reliable is stock recommendations of business channels?

Not reliable at all.

A British newspaper called the "Observer" did a contest of picking stocks between 3 teams;

1. A team of professional money-managers.

2. A team of school children.

3. A house-cat named Orlando.

Orlando won.

Business channels... or any other media guru don't update you every day. They don't tell you when to get out. They don't tell you when things change. The information they give is 100% free.... because it has little value without a continuing portfolio management plan.

You are doing the worst thing to make money. You may "win" on a few of these... but the odds are significantly against your overall portfolio in making a profit..... or at least beating the S&P500.

Read some books. Understand what you're doing. Concentrate more effort and time in risk management than what stocks to pick. Make your own buy and sell decisions.

Analysts reports may be the best guide, but only for the longer view, don'tb expect them to tell you what's happening with shareprices in the short term.

It's probably a lot to do with haveing all relevant information, good and BAD!

The so-called experts are selling advices because they are unable to make themselves rich by their own advices.

i have been watching business channels extensively for long hours and following the experts religiously but still when it comes to execution of their recommendations,i m losing ground. is this the right strategy to utilize their expertise and adopt in the stock market. will i be able to make headway?
