Perhaps you have debt on your investment? 98.48 profit with a 14.87% return, indicates the beginning value of the investment (not your equity in it) was: 98.48/0.1487 = £662.27
The return on the asset is different than your return on the equity in it. If you have borrowed to purchase the asset, then your Return on Equity will be higher because of the leverage (and you will have a larger ROE loss if the market turns against you).
