The way I see it that would not be considered a day trade, because you did not sell the stock on the same day you bought it.

I used up all 3 of my daytrades, but there is a stock I want to buy going into earnings (to be announced in AH today). Say I buy it today and it goes up in AH. Obviously I can't lock in anything by selling it, but could I sell short against it to offset it and then exit both positions tomorrow?
